Built for people who bill by the hour

The invisible hours,
made visible.

Your billable time is on the timesheet. The reading, triaging, filing, and coordinating that quietly eat your day are not — so they are never measured, and never won back. AetherTime measures both. Local-first, one-time purchase, runs offline from a USB drive.

Every billable hour passes through hours nobody sees.

AetherTime is built on one idea: the work that never reaches an invoice still costs you money — and you cannot manage what you never measure.

The visible half

One-click timer with auto-pause and configurable rounding, tasks by client and project, billable-hours review, and branded PDF invoices. The part your clients see, tracked accurately.

The invisible half

Email, triage, filing notices, intake, coordination — the administrative work that steals hours and appears on no timesheet. AetherPilot reads it, classifies it, and puts a number on it.

What you win back

AetherTime reports the capacity you recover — hours returned, not just hours logged. See it by workflow, by period, and in a client-ready report you can act on.

Everything you need to track, bill, and get paid.

The whole practice in one app — by client, project, and task. No subscriptions, and your data stays on your machine.

Task & Project Management

Organize work by client, project, and task. Drag-and-drop to regroup. Archive completed work without losing history.

One-Click Timer

Start, pause, resume. Configurable rounding (1/6/15/30 min). Auto-pauses after inactivity — no more billing a 10-hour day because you forgot to stop it.

Tracker tab with running timer and time entries

Billing & Invoicing

Review billable hours by client. Override amounts, apply rates, generate PDF invoices. Export to Excel or CSV. Send invoices straight from the app.

Estimates & Proposals

Draft project estimates and client proposals with a professional PDF output. Set pricing upfront, then track actuals against the estimate.

The work nobody sees, finally measured.

Email, triage, filing notices, intake — the administrative hours that never appear on an invoice. AetherPilot reads them, classifies them, and recommends what to do next. You approve; it acts.

Reads your email, recommends the task

AetherPilot reads a batch of messages, works out which matter each one belongs to, and turns the actionable ones into a checklist: the task, the client and project it matched, any deadline, and why. Nothing is created until you check the boxes and press Apply.

Measures the hours you never billed

Reading, triaging, filing, and organizing are real work that no timesheet captures. AetherPilot estimates that admin time and puts it in one place, so you can finally see where the invisible hours go — and stop losing them.

Private by design, AI optional

Classification, matter matching, and the word-count math run locally. AetherPilot is off by default. The AI features are opt-in and work with a local model on your own network (e.g. Ollama) or your own API key — never a service we operate.

You stay in control. Every recommendation is yours to accept, edit, or discard. AetherPilot never sends an email, never marks your mail as read, and never writes to your data without your approval. The AI is a first pass, not the final word.

Solo includes AetherPilot AI assist (bring your own model). Pro adds the workflow engine, the admin-time ledger, and the Watch List. AetherTime comes with example workflows and documentation — tuning it to your own practice is yours to do, or a service we can help with.

No Data Collection

Your data never leaves your machine.

AetherTime stores everything in a local SQLite database. No cloud, no telemetry, no analytics SDKs, no accounts. The only network request is an optional manual update check — which never sends your task or billing data.

Built for the way you work.

Whether you're solo or part of a small team, AetherTime adapts to your workflow — not the other way around.

One structure, any practice. Everything in AetherTime is built on a simple Client → Project → Task hierarchy, with time, billing, estimates, and reports attached. A law firm calls the middle layer a matter; a consultant calls it an engagement; an adjuster calls it a claim. The structure is the same, which is why AetherTime is not legal software with a freelancer mode — it is a workflow engine with a legal lens, and other lenses are on the way. The deepest pre-built rules today are for legal work; the engine underneath is industry-agnostic.

Freelancers

Juggling multiple clients? Track time by project, generate invoices, and know exactly what to bill — without paying rent on a tool you use 20 minutes a day.

Consultants

Fixed-price projects need tight tracking. Set budgets, monitor utilization, and export client-ready PDF reports that justify every hour.

Solo & Small Law Firms

IT locked down? No install needed. Runs from a USB drive. Track billable hours in 6-minute increments, generate invoices, maintain a clear billing record.

Small Teams

One shared database file via Dropbox or Syncthing, no per-seat pricing and no admin overhead. True multi-user with roles and an audit trail is coming in AetherTime Enterprise.

Questions people actually ask.

The things freelancers, consultants, and small firms want to know before they switch.

Is AetherTime really a one-time purchase?

Yes. Solo is $99 once and Pro is $199 once. No subscription, no per-seat monthly fee. Each purchase includes a year of updates, and after that the software keeps working — renewing updates is optional and nothing locks you out of your data.

Does it work offline, or on a locked-down work PC?

Yes — this is what it was built for. AetherTime runs from a USB drive with no installation and no admin rights. There is no cloud dependency: the only network request is an optional manual update check, which never sends your task or billing data.

Where is my data stored?

In a local SQLite database on your machine or your USB drive. No account, no telemetry, no analytics SDKs. Your client names, hours, and rates never leave your computer.

Does it support legal 6-minute billing increments?

Yes, with configurable rounding at 1, 6, 15, or 30 minutes. Many tools charge extra for this or only offer it on a paid tier; in AetherTime it is standard. Invoicing, estimates, and PDF reports are included in every license too.

Can I try it before buying?

Yes. The private beta is free right now — email beta@aethersol.io for a copy, and every license includes a 30-day trial at launch. No account and no credit card required.

How is this different from Toggl, Clockify, Harvest, or Clio?

Those are subscriptions that run in the cloud; several also charge per seat and per feature. AetherTime is a one-time purchase that runs offline, keeps your data local, and includes billing, invoicing, estimates, and reports in the base price. See the comparison table above, or the detailed comparison pages.
